The End of Suburbia: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of The American Dream is an award-winning documentary that examines the history and wisdom of distinctly American, suburban life. A post-World War II concept, suburbia attracted droves of people, giving rise to sprawl and all that comes with it — good and bad. How has the environment been affected by this lifestyle, and is it sustainable? Director Gregory Greene dares to ask all the tough questions in this thought-provoking film. After the film, participate in a discussion about how the film relates to life in Reston in 2011 and beyond. Brought to you in partnership with Sustainable Reston, a committee of the Fairfax Coalition for Smarter Growth.

Box turtle populations are declining and the Virginia Herpetological Society is asking anyone who sees one of these turtles
to share details of the sighting in an online form.

On the Virginia Herpetological Society website, just scroll down on the left to “Box Turtle Reporting” and fill out the form. It’s quick and easy and will help monitor box turtle populations.Input from citizen scientists is important for providing data to make natural resource decisions. RESTON ASSOCIATION SNOW POLICY
Reston Association offices follow the Fairfax County Government inclement weather policy. If Fairfax County Government closes, so does Reston Association. We post notices on our Facebook, Twitter and website.
When snowfall on the 55 miles of Reston Association trails reaches two inches, RA crews plow.
The biggest challenge for crews is that often the work is done at night because there are fewer people on the trails at that time. And did you know? The trails are the most widely-used amenity in Reston Association. Learn more about RA’s Snow Policy.
RAISING THE ROOF AT NORTH HILLS PAVILION
Working with a crane, crews will soon begin raising the upper part of the roof of the North Hills Pavilion to make repairs. While the work is underway above, the pavilion will still be available for use, even though the interior will be exposed to the weather, until the work is completed. The repairs should take six to eight weeks, depending upon the weather. For additional information, contact Reston Association at 703-435-6530.
