Reston’s Best Thai Food – Thai Luang
If you like Thai Food, you owe it to yourself to stop in at Thai Luang, 171 Elden St in Herndon. My favorite disk is the Cashew Chicken, but I am also a big fan of the Pad Thai. Sara likes the Penang Curry dishes. At lunch time, their lunch specials include lemon grass soup, which is to die for, and an spring roll. Thai Luang can sometimes get crowded at lunch times, so hitting it at 11:45am instead of 12pm is recommended. The staff is very friendly. We often go their to eat with the family, and will sometimes order take out for just our family, or when we are having some friends over.
We have tried most of the Thai places in town, and Thai Luang is by far our favorite.
You can find more information on their site @ www.thailuang.com
Completely agree! We started going there when it first opened and it’s been a favorite ever since. Panang jumbo shrimp, duck with sweet basil … too many favorites to list … Great food and friendly staff!
We like a different one very near there. It’s Thai Towne, also on Elden, at the other end of the strip from Milwaukee Frozen Custard. One of the things we LOVE about Thai Towne is the manager, Tiwa. Our son is allergic to peanuts and treenuts. Tiwa knows this and always goes back to supervise the preparation of his food. We always have the epi pens just in case, but Tiwa is so conscientious, it reassures us a great deal. Of course, while Tiwa was in Thailand for vacation, we ate at home! He’ll be back June 1…
I had a similar experience at Thai Luang. The doctor’s thought I had celiac, wheat allergy, and NuNu at Thai Luang had them prepare the sauce on my favorate dish special for me. It’s those little things that make such a huge difference. I’ll have to try Thai Towne sometime, although I would feel like I was cheating on NuNu being so close to Thai Luang.
Complete bummer here. Thai Towne will be closing on Saturday June 13, a victim of the recent rent hike by the owners of the strip mall. Back to square one for finding a ’safe’ restaurant for the kid.
You should stop in to Thai Luang and ask for Nu-Nu, tell them that Adam sent you and that I said they were very helpful to me when I thought I had celiac disease, I am sure they would be able to create a safe environment for your kids.
We tried Thai Luang tonight and you were right. Awesome food and they were good to the kid. We seriously underestimated the portion sizes so will have Thai food for lunch tomorrow as well. Wow, a really great place.
Now — any good Mexican food places you know of?
The Kids love Rio Grande in the Reston Town Center. I have also heard good things about the Tortilla Factory but I haven’t been there yet.
