I'm very glad that you shared this with us. I can't help but feel sorry for Lake Anne. That area is so cozy and quaint and has so much potential to be vibrant again with a little elbow grease, but, alas, it appears as if those in power would rather just see it decline in the coming years in favor of all that is "shiny" and "new." I live just up North Shore Drive from Lake Anne and really enjoy going there to browse the used book store, get exercise running up those really steep stone stairs to the lake overlook post, and to just watch the ducks sometimes. I know many fellow Charter Oak residents also enjoy Lake Anne. It's sad, though, that I've met people who have lived in Reston longer than I have who have never been here. It's where our community was BORN, and even though now it is borderline run-down there's still reasons to go there (including the farmers' markets on Saturdays). This will be a great opportunity for me to bring some new friends for a fun day out! :-)
