County Reports More Copperhead Snake Sightings Than Usual
Fairfax County officials are warning that the season for sightings of venomous Copperhead snakes is already upon us. According to county wildlife biologists, there have been reports of the snake throughout the county, including the Hunter Mill area of Reston, and they are calling this an “unusually high number” of sightings county-wide for this time of year.
The only report in Reston is that of a dog suffering a bite in the Lake Fairfax area.
Both county wildlife officials and Reston Association environmental management staff are encouraging community members to take precautions. Learn more.

There are only six open slits per session, so sign up quickly.
For more information about the EDRR program, scheduled excursions or how to become involved, contact Kathy Frederick, Invasive Management Area Volunteer Coordinator, at (703) 324-8681 or e-mail katherine.frederick@fairfaxcounty.gov. Visit the Fairfax County parks Web site for more.
